Music and tourism
The cherubims and the seraphims were in a festive mood when their namesakes, “The Angelos”, performed last night at the Bacolod Pavillon grand ballroom.
The concert was a call to promote Bacolod City and Negros Island to the world travel market, launched by John Orola Jr., president of the SKAL International–Bacolod.
SKAL International Bacolod Chapter has new recruits from the travel trade and the academe in the city, whose activities include the promotion of Pilgrimage Shrine tours in Bacolod City churches such as the Shrine of Divine Mercy, Shrine of San Lorenzo Ruiz, Shrine of the Sacred Heart, Shrine of St. Jude, Shrine of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, and many more.
Father Felix Pasquin, rector of the Diocese of the San Sebastian Church supports the project.
On February 22 Dr. Ver Lacson hosted SKAL members and special friends at dinner in his lovely house. Ninfa, Perla and Nena Leonardia, and I joined the performers and other guests.
“The Angelos”, who won the Aliw Awards’ best group in concert category in 2009, was asked to sing one song to our delight. The young, vibrant and good-looking artists are Miguel Aguila, Rei Paolo Libran, and Jon Louie Abaigar.
Since it was Ash Wednesday, the dishes served were meatless, but still very delicious. White wine, served by Ver’s daughter Summer, kept us bubbly. We noted the new arrangement of the sala, lounge and two buffet tables on both sides, and the forever Christmas trees of Dr. Ver, that were still lighted. It was a night for everyone to enjoy, especially our new guests.
Remember: God give us dreams: A size too big so we can grow in them. Bountiful blessing awaits you today. Trust in God, He is the source of all good things.* |
