Fire destroys 3 houses
BY ADRIAN NEMES III

Three houses were destroyed when fire, believed caused by an electrical short circuit, broke out in a squatter’s area in Brgy. Banago, Bacolod City, at about 5 p.m. yesterday.

A concerned citizen informed the City’s Bureau of Fire Protection that several houses in Purok Riverside Zone 3 in Brgy. Banago were hit by fire at about 5:04 p.m.

Four trucks from the BFP were sent to the area and were assisted by those of the Amity and Chamber volunteer fire brigades, but it took sometime before they could put out the fire because the gate leading to the area was closed.

Investigation by Senior Fire Officer 3 Harry Fernandez and Fire Officer 3 Cornelio Silva showed that the fire originated at the ground floor of the house owned by Rodolfo Mulleno, and spread to the residences of Raul Mulleno and Roan Baydo.

Although no one was reported hurt during the fire, about P100,000 worth of properties destroyed, City fire marshal, Chief Insp. Pamela Rojane Candido, said.

The fire was put out at about 5:20 p.m., she said.

Candido reminded the public to have electrical connections in their residences checked by licensed electricians and to keep flammable materials out of the reach of children to avoid fire incidents.*APN
