People Power rites, rallies set

The Negros Occidental  provincial government will mark the 26th Anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution with a program tomorrow morning, while Bayan Muna  Negros and the Negrenses for Corona Removal (N4CR) will stage separate rallies in Bacolod City in the afternoon

At 7:30 a.m. tomorrow the provincial government of Negros Occidental, in cooperation with the Art Association of Bacolod-Negros, will celebrate the EDSA Anniversary  at the Provincial Capitol Lagoon and Park on the theme, “Anong Taya Mo Para sa Pilipinas Natin?”

The program  will be attended by provincial government officials and employees.

Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. will deliver a message, and the book, “One Day In The Life Of” will be launched by the Peace Warriors.

This will be followed by a cultural fellowship and workshop with the visual artists of the province entitled “Kahilwayan Para sa Tali-ambong (Freedom for the Arts)” at 9 a.m. with talks to be  given by Nunelucio Alvarado, Rafael Paderna and Charlie Co. 

A cultural presentation will be held in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, Alejandro Deoma of Bayan Muna Negros said his group  will march from the Rizal Elementary School at 1 p.m. tomorrow for a rally that will last until 3 p.m. in front of the Bacolod Fountain of Justice at Araneta Street to denounce government’s failure to deliver on the gains the EDSA People Power revolution.

Edwin Balajadia, a N4CR convenor, said  they will also hold a rally in front of the Fountain of Justice from 5 p.m. to 7p.m.  to celebrate the EDSA  People Power anniversary and to call for the ouster of Chief Justice Renato Corona.*CPG
