‘Threats to guv’s
life hearsay’

Reports on the alleged new threats to the life of Governor Roel Degamo are “purely hearsay”, Sr. Supt. Edward Carranza, provincial director of the Negros Oriental Police, said yesterday.

He added that the police has not received any report that the governor and his men were threatened during relief operations for earthquake victims in Guihulngan.

It is normal for any public official to receives threats, especially from those who are not pleased with his or her job performance, Carranza said.

Degamo has said that he has been receiving death threats since last year, from persons he perceived to be detractors wanting to discredit him and his administration.*JFP
