Police on heightened alert
BY ADRIAN NEMES III

The Bacolod City police will be on heightened alert today in anticipation of the protests to be staged in the city to commemorate the 26th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution.

City Police Director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz said they will enhance police visibility in the areas of the Public Plaza and the Funtain of Justice, where rallies will be held.

De la Paz said they will deploy intelligence operatives to monitor the situation in the rally centers as some criminal elements may take advantage of the situation.

He also ordered the chiefs of police to intensify police visibility in their areas and provide additional security in vital installations and business establishments.

The police will observe maximum tolerance and allow the protestors to air their concerns, but De la Paz appealed to them not to create disturbance and avoid hampering the smooth flow of traffic.*APN
