Bags of blessings

LA VIDA NEGRENSE

About  P10 million worth of food packages  was donated to  10,000 families in identified areas, with 500 families in Bacolod City as recipients by the Metrobank Group of Companies headed by Dr. George S.K. Ty, recently.

The project was a close collaboration among subsidiaries and affiliates of the Metrobank Group.

The distribution in the Visayas was done through the  Metrobank Visayas IV branches, headed by  Alex Arnaldo.

Now on its 2nd year, the “Bags of Blessing” program aims to share with underprivileged Filipino families the blessings that the Metrobank Group received in 2011 by donating food packages. Each family received one thousand pesos worth of food package, composed of rice, canned goods, milk, coffee, sugar, noodles, and a snack pack for children.

This nationwide endeavor is in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development, that  determined the beneficiaries through the National Household Targeting System. This is also in support of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Programof the Aquino administration. Beneficiaries also included victims of natural calamities the previous year. Personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police, extended their support to the project.

The program also assisted families from the cities of Manila, Pasig, Marikina, Quezon, Pasay, and Makati and other regional sites such as Meycauayan City, Bulacan; Batangas City; Santiago City, Isabela; Cauayan City, Isabela; Dagupan City; Iloilo City; Cebu City; Toledo City; Tacloban City; San Jose, Antique; Davao City; Zamboanga City; and Butuan City.*
