‘Jobless man
commits suicide’

A jobless man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence in Brgy. Estefania, Bacolod City, Sunday night.

Police Officer 1 Gilbert Alunan, case investigator, identified the fatality as Elezer Tortogo, 43, of Purok Villa Villeta.

Investigation showed that Tortogo was found hanging from the wooden frame of his house at about 9 p.m., by his aunt, Agatona Tanghal, who immediately informed the police.

The police recovered the water hose allegedly used by Tortogo in hanging himself, but there was no suicide note found at the crime scene, Alunan said.

Station 4 commander, Chief Insp. Ulysses Ortiz, said Tortogo’s relatives told them that he was suffering from an illness and that could be the reason why he decided to end his life.

Although it appeared to be a suicide, Ortiz said Tortogo’s body will be autopsied to ascertain the cause of his death and ensure that there was no foul play.*APN
