3,000 job seekers hired

More than 3,000 applicants have been deployed locally and abroad through job fairs conducted by the Public Employment Service Office of Bacolod City last month, a deployment report of PESO showed yesterday.

PESO manager Moises de la Cruz, said 2,739 were hired locally and 409 were deployed overseas.

Local jobs filled were for laborers, job orders and security guards, while overseas jobs include service crews, nurses, welders, plumbers, carpenters, electricians, masons, waiters, pipe fitters, and mechanics, he said.

Overseas jobs were channelled through licensed recruitment agencies like Blazing Star International Manpower Services, Pisces International, Skills International, YWA, Lead Resources Management Corp., Placewell International, and Tiffany International, de la Cruz said.

Applicants will start working abroad immediately after all their medical certificates and working permits are completed, he added.

They are expected to work in Middle East countries like Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Dubai, and other Asian countries like Singapore, Hongkong, and Malaysia, de la Cruz said.

Meanwhile, representatives of Pacific Mediterranean and Lead Resources will be at the PESO today and tomorrow to screen skilled workers and service crew applicants to work in Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates.

On Thursday and Friday, Cliques Security Agency personnel will conduct interview for security guards to be deployed in Manila.

Applicants are also asked to fill out the skills registry forms so PESO will be able to classify their skills and match it with the jobs needed by companies, dela Cruz also said.*LTG
