New fuel hike scored

Oil players and companies were scored by BAYAN-Negros yesterday for the fresh increase of P0.20 to P0.60 in diesel, gasoline, and other petroleum products, Christian Tuayon, BAYAN secretary general, said.

It is a “pack of added burdens” right after New Year’s celebration, he said, adding that the oil cartels hit the country with a New Year storm by setting a new round of oil price increase that will trigger a snow-ball effect on the prices of other commodities.

This round of oil price hike will bring a catastrophic impact and suffering to the poor oil cartels gain more profits, Tuayon also said.

The group also criticized President Benigno Aquino III for allegedly remaining deaf to their demand to repeal the Oil Deregulation law as this only benefits the oil companies while drivers continue to suffer, they added.*LTG
