BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

The Office of Civil Defense  Region 7 yesterday distributed financial assistance to victims of tropical storm “Sendong”  in Negros Oriental.

Regional director Minda Morante of the OCD distributed P10,000 in cash to the families of each of the 38 casualties of “Sendong” for a  total  of P380,000, assisted by Gov. Roel Degamo, at the provincial capitol building.

Degamo said he will also recommend financial assistance to two more victims of Sendong, one of whom had died of leptospirosis in Tanjay City, and a resident of barangay Cadawinonan who died of diarrhea.

Degamo has also directed the chief of hospital of the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital,  Dr. Felix Sy, to extend all the necessary medical assistance to 11 others who are suspected of leptospirosis infection, one of whom is already undergoing dialysis, reports indicated.*JG
