for Dumaguete flood victims

BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

National Housing Authority representatives from Region 7 have looked into six possible relocation sites in Dumaguete City for families who lost their homes to tropical storm “Sendong”  in December.

The NHA  officials met with  Dumaguete Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria recently on the scheme for the relocation of the flood victims after the visit last month in the city of  Vice President Jejomar Binay, who pledged help for the families.

The geo-hazard map of Dumaguete City is also being reviewed to determine which of the six sites will be ideal for the relocation project.

BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

A woman bravely exercised a citizen’s arrest Thursday in Talay, Dumaguete City, on her nephew who became unruly and allegedly admitted using illegal drugs.

An initial police report identified the nephew as Alvin Mariño, 23, of Talay.

The police said the man became difficult to control and admitted to relatives that he was into illegal drugs.

He was turned over to the intelligence unit of the Dumaguete police. Recovered from him was a matchbox containing suspected dried marijuana leaves.
