Driver of mayor survives shooting

BY GILBERT BAYORAN

The driver of Mayor Rommel Yogore survived an attempt on his life Thursday night in Brgy. Saguabanwa, Valladolid, Negros Occidental, but suffered superficial injuries due to broken glass, police said.

Senior Police Officer 4 Rally Apolonio Abila, Valladolid deputy police chief, yesterday said Jack Salcedo was not hit, when he was shot by a still unidentified gunman, while he was on his way home on board a family-owned Honda Civic vehicle.

Abila described the gunman as an amateur, as he missed hitting Salcedo, by shooting at the driver’s seat.

Before the shooting incident, an employee of the Valladolid municipal government, was with Valladolid Mayor Romel Yogore.

A deformed slug of a still unknown caliber of firearm, was recovered at the crime scene, and is now with the PNP Crime Laboratory for examination.

Abila said they are still trying to establish the motive for the shooting.*GPB
