Young taekwondo athletes trained by coach Vic Feria of Hannah Taekwondo Club captured the overall championship in the Hon. Isidro P. Zayco Regional Age Group Taekwondo Tournament held Jan. 7 at K-Center in Kabankalan City.

Bagging the gold in their respective division are young jins Enrico Lizares Mora, Arielle Legaspi, Francisco Entiero, JV Cabrerra, Lala Lumacad, Mariel Dayor and Bryan Tabefranca.

Settling for silver were Jean Fierre Malacad, Samantha Agbay and Michael Sanicas, while Roam Joseph Ayuban, Charlize Subardiaga, Dave Don Dolloso and Louie Jess Agbay grabbed bronze medals.

Petron wins
Game 3 vs. Talk ‘N Text

With Alex Cabagnot delivering a clutch triple in the final seconds, Petron Blaze got away with a 95-93 win last night to take a 2-1 lead against Talk ‘N Text in their PBA Philippine Cup best-of-seven semifinal showdown at the Cuneta Astrodome.

Petron will shoot for a commanding 3-1 lead tomorrow when the two teams clash in Game 4.

It was another thrilling basketball game for those who trooped to the Astrodome to watch Petron and Talk ‘N Text battle for the coveted final seat.

Cebu chess tourney
eyeing Guinness record

CEBU CITY  – The Cebu City Sports Commission and the Cebu Chess Association  has gathered more than 40,000 participants from the classroom-wide and school-wide competitions that started last October.

By now, the Guinnes World Record for the biggest chess tournament has been unofficially broken by the joint project of CCSC and CCA.

”Unofficially we have reached 40,000 participants in the classroom and school-wide tournaments. We are still consolidating, verifying and documenting reports that have reached us,” CCSC chairman Edward Hayco said.
