Nanny offered P5,000,
cellphone for abduction

BY ADRIAN NEMES III

The head of the Bacolod City Police Women’s and Children’s Complaints Desk said yesterday that someone had commissioned the teenage nanny to abduct the 1-year-old son of her employee in Brgy. Tangub, Bacolod City, Saturday in exchange for P5,000 and a cellular phone.

Chief Insp. Jovy Cabcaban said they already have the name of the person who commissioned the nanny to abduct the child, but she cannot divulge it in order not to hamper the ongoing investigation.

In a radio interview, Cabcaban also said that she noticed several inconsistencies in the statement of the nanny.

The nanny, 17, whose name is being withheld by the DAILY STAR , is a resident of Brgy. Marcelo in Calatrava town Negros Occidental. She was apprehended at about 10 p.m. Saturday on board a tricycle in the high way of Brgy. Bata, about four hours after she fled with her employer’s son.

Cabcaban said the nanny told them that the person who commissioned her to abduct the child threatened to kill her aunt if she refused to do it. She added that the same person who planned the abduction told the nanny that they will meet up at the north terminal on Saturday, and that was before the policemen arrived and arrested her.

Cabcaban also said they are determining if there was robbery at the residence of the nanny’s employer because they noticed disarray in the house when they conducted their investigation.

An earring is not owned by the nanny’s employer, and a cigaret butt were recovered from the area, police said.

Niña Tolentino, of Gardenville Subdivision in Brgy. Tangub, Bacolod City told the police she and her two other children had gone to a mall and when they arrived home at about 6 p.m. Saturday, the suspect and her son were nowhere to be found.

A manhunt operation was conducted against the nanny, who was arrested through the help of a concerned citizen who saw her riding a tricycle from the Bacolod Real Estate Development Corporation port.*APN
