600 sacks of
charcoal seized

Bantay Dalan Task Force operatives intercepted a cargo truck loaded with 600 sacks of charcoal on Jan. 6 at Santo Niño Ville in Silay City, Negros Occidental.

Supt. Rosauro Francisco, Silay police chief, said the 6-wheeler cargo truck driven by Julie Davido,39, was allowed to transport only 500 sacks of charcoal, based on the permit issued by the Sipalay Community Environment and Natural Resources Office, signed by Arvi Fernando.

Francisco, however, said it exceeded this by 141 sacks, when verified by the Silay TF Dalan operatives, in the presence of Department of Environment and Natural Resources representative Rolando Estil.

Jared Madrona of Brgy. Manlocahoc, Sipalay City, was identified by the police as the owner of the confiscated charcoal, estimated to have a market value of P90,000. * GPB

3 apprehended for
illegal gambling

Three men were arrested for illegal gambling Monday at the Sambuk Terminal and at Magsaysay Avenue in Bacolod City.

Members of the Bacolod City Police Special Operations Group and Station 8 policemen apprehended Rodney Magbanua, 46, of Purok Villa Esperanaza in Brgy. Tangub, at about 10:15 p.m. allegedly while in the act of tallying bets for jai-alai.

The team led by Supt. Santiago Rapiz confiscated a cellular phone, a betting stub, a ballpen, two pieces of yellow pad paper, and P4,516 in cash.

Station 4 and 6 policemen arrested Erwin Uberas, 37 and Jey Cipry Juarez, 26, both of Purok Balungay in Brgy. 28 at about 10:30 p.m. Monday, at the Sambuk Terminal for allegedly playing “tumbo”, an illegal coin game.

Police Officer 1 Angelo Pacardo of Station 4 and Police Officer 3 Raphael Palacios seized three cue coins and P151 in bet money from Juarez and Uberas during their arrest.

Juarez and Uberas are now detained at the Police Station 6 lock-up cell while Magbanua is detained at Police Station 6. *APN

5 wanted persons nabbed

Five men with arrest warrants for various  crimes were arrested by the police in the cities of Bacolod and Bago, in Negros Occidental, Monday.

Bago City policemen arrestedErjohn Monibit alias “Tarsilo”, 23, Lester Decendario” alias Dakling”, 21, Eric Monibit “alias Esboy”, 40, and Earl Monibit “alias Aming”, 21, all of Brgy. Caridad in Bago City, at their residences at about 10 a.m.

Bago City police chief, Supt. Simeon Gane, said the four were apprehended on the strength of an arrest warrant for serious physical injuries issued by Municipal Trial Court in Cities Judge Herminigildo Octaviano, who set their bails at P12,000 each.

Gane said  the charges filed against the suspects stemmed from a riot in Brgy.  Caridad last year.

Meanwhile, Station 2 policemen and operatives of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office arrested Henry Perezof Purok Tilapia in Brgy. 3, Bacolod for frustrated murder at about 3:30 p.m.

Reports to the Bacolod City Police Office showed that Perez was apprehended by the team composed of Insp. Richee Gohee of Station 2 and police officers 1 Nolan Peñaflorida and Arnel Prudente arrested by virtue ofIloilo Regional Trial Court Judge Victorino Maniba.*APN
