Chan leads Rain or
Shine in Game 4

Coach Yeng Guiao allowed Bacoleño Jeffrei Chan to play for 30 minutes and he scored three triples, four field goals, and two free throws to lead Rain or Shin past the rampaging Powerade, 110-95, to tie their best-of-seven seminals at 2-2 in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Cuneta Astrodome.

It was the kind of performance Guiao was expecting from his players after Rain or Shine suffered a back-to-back setback in the hands of Powerade in Game 2 and 3.

Chan, who was born and raised in Bacolod City and played for the University of St. La Salle in his high school years, joined the PBA in 2008 after playing for the Far Eastern University Tamaraws, where he averaged 18.6 points per game.

His accuracy from the field last night, converting all his four field goal attempts, bailed Rain or Shine out of trouble in the series. A Powerade win would have put the Tigers a win away from the finals.

Four other Elasto Painters scored in double-digit with Paul Lee finishing with 15 points, Ronnie Matias adding 12 points, Gabe Norwood with 11, and Beau Belga with 10 points.

The pooled efforts from Rain or Shine shooters negated another 30-point explosion from Gary David, who managed to convert five of his 14 attempts from three-point arc.

Earlier, Guiao lamented the poor field goal shooting from his wards as he pointed out that David is not the main problem of the Elasto Painters.

After noting the poor shooting percentage from his players, Guiao said they will concentrate on their shooting and work on making better shots.

The plan proved to be effective as Rain or Shine outscored Powerade last night in the first three quarters.*NAB
