to get P4.4M from DOST

The Department of Science and Technology in Negros Occidental will turn over P4,432,188 to four beneficiaries of theSmall Enterprises Technology Upgrading Program today and tomorrow, Glady Tomulto, science research specialist, said yesterday.

The beneficiaries are Produce Ur Own Organic Corporation, Vito Prints and Pieces, and Crisvil Enterprises all in Bacolod City and Hinigaranon Home Made Delicacies in Hinigaran.

Tomulto said PURO Organic Corporation will receive P1,826,000 to purchase vacuum fryer from upgrading its production facility for organically-grown vegetables and fruits processing while the Hinigaranon Home Made Delicacies will receive P1,285,000 for its cookie depositor machine.

The machine will be used to increase its production capacity, enhance food safety compliance, and increase customers, she said.

The Vito Prints and Pieces will receive P323,188.80 for the purchase of a dry-type finishing spray booth and sanding booth.

Having the booths will improve workplace environment by reducing the spread of flammable dust and paint fumes, improve fiberglass dust recovery, and to comply with the Republic Act 8749 of the Clean Air Act of 1999, Tomulto also said.

Crisvil Enterprises on the other hand, will receive P998,000 for the purchase of a spin casting line and fetting and finishing line to upgrade its production facility for the manufacture of fashion accessories, she also said.

Tomulto said the Innovation System Support Funds of SETUP-DOST provides technical assistance to upgrade equipment and machines of manufacturing industries like food, metals, furniture, and textiles.

The assistance aims to help them improve their production, minimize expenses, and produce competitive and quality products, she added.*LTG
