Suspected drug pusher arrested
BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

The anti-illegal drugs campaign in Negros Oriental scored again Monday with the arrest of a suspected drug pusher in Sta. Catalina town.

Police reports identified the suspect as Christopher Hernan, 27, single, a resident of Barangay San Francisco in Sta. Catalina.

A joint team from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Sta. Catalina police station, the Negros Oriental Philippine National Police-Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force, the National Bureau of Investigation and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group arrested Hernan after a buy-bust operation.

PDEA provincial head Rayford Yap said Hernan is allegedly a member of a group of suspected drug pushers in Sta. Catalina and nearby areas.

Hernan was arrested after a transaction with an undercover agent posing as a buyer in the barangay.

Confiscated from Hernan were two transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, and three pieces of P500 bills, one of them marked and used during the buy-bust operation.

Yap said, his office had received a report earlier about Hernan’s involvement in the illegal drugs trade, to the PDEA coordinated with the Sta. Catalina police and monitor his activities.

Hernan is now detained while charges are being readied against him for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Article 2 of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.* JFP
