Cebu officials
thanked for aid

Mayor Ricky Gonzalez of Valencia, Negros Oriental, thanked in behalf of his constituents, officials of Cebu province and Bayawan City, Negros Oriental, for their financial assistance to help in relief and rehabilitation efforts after Tropical Storm Sendong.

Bayawan Mayor Rene Gaudiel presented a check for P300,000 to Gonzalez Tuesday from his city. Bayawan also give financial aid Dumaguete City - P1-million, Tanjay City - P1-million, Sibulan - P300,000 and Amlan and San Jose P200,000, all in Negros Oriental.

Bayawan through Gaudiel also gave P750,000 each to Cagayan de Oro City and Iligan, and P500,000 to Ozamis City, that was also severely hit by “Sendong”.

Gonzalez said priority will be given to the families whose homes were washed out by flooding, and those who were dislocated.

He also thanked Bayawan, through Gaudiel, for also sending heavy equipment to Valencia to help rehabilitate badly damaged roads, and dredge and clean out clogged river beds.

Valencia town was the hardest hit area in Negros Oriental with almost P300,000 worth of infrastructure like roads, bridges, foot bridges and spillways destroyed or damaged.*
