Minuluan-Talisay enters
Negros Open quaterfinals

Minuluan-Talisay beat La Carlota Football Club, 3-2, in Group B to book a quarterfinal seat 1st Negros Football Open Championship at Panaad Park and Sports Stadium, Saturday.

Mark Joseph Posadas broke the ice for Minuluan in the 9th minute as Nihan Brein Jardio made it 2-0 three minutes later as they dominated the match against La Carlota.

Early celebration on Minuluan side, however, was ruled out as Christian Sario managed to send the ball into the net in a counter attack in 16th minute to trail the Talisay team, 1-2 at halftime.

Vic Pallerma scored Talisay’s third goal in the 72nd minute, while Sario, once again got away in the 81st but La Carlota failed to equalize as the final whistle sounded.

Meanwile, Don Bosco Alumni won without breaking a sweat in the first game after La Castellana FC failed to show up in Saturday’s first match.

In the other match-up Sagay City FC blanked Kabankalan Sagay City, 9-0, to formalize its entry in the quarterfinals, while Las Buenas defeated Magallon United FC, 2-1.

The top four teams in Group A and B will play this Saturday for the crossover semifinals on January 21.

Minulu-an Talisay and Sagay join the other six teams in the quarterfinals.

Talisay will face Group A No. 1 team Bacolod United while Group B No. 1 squad Ceres FC battles against Group A No. 4 team Bago FC.

San Carlos FC, the No. 2 team in Group A will face Himamaylan FC, and Real Negrense, the No. 2 team in Group B will face Sagay FC, the No. 3 team in Group A.*NAB
