Number of drug pushers
increase to 41 in Silay City

The number of suspected drug pushers accounted for by the police in Silay City, Negros Occidental, rose to 41, with the arrest of another suspected peddler Wednesday, that led to the confiscation of alleged shabu from his possession, police records show.

Supt. Rosauro Francisco, Silay police chief, yesterday said they have already accounted for 75 percent of the estimated 60 drug peddlers operating in the city, since he assumed the position of police chief in the first quarter of 2010.

Francisco, however, noted that new names of suspected drug peddlers operating in Silay City, have also cropped up as they maximize their anti-drug campaign.

On Wednesday, a police team headed by PO3 Rayjay Rebadomia arrested a certain Mark Villaran, alias Maku, during a buy-bust operation at the public market of Silay City.

The arrest of Villaran yielded three sachets of suspected shabu, P228.50 in cash believed to be proceeds from the sale of prohibited drugs, and P250 in marked money.

Francisco said the shabu being sold by peddlers in Silay City, were traced to have originated from Bacolod City.

He vowed that there will be no let-up in the campaign against prohibited drugs in Silay City.* GPB
