House helper found dead
in employers’ living room

A middle-aged female helper was found dead in her employers’ house in Barangay Jawa, Valencia town in Negros Oriental at around 1:45 p.m. yesterday.

The body of  Efrena Quitoy, 48, was found by  her employers when they returned from a trip to Cebu during the weekend to attend the yearly Sinulog Festival, police reports said.

The Valencia police said that Editho Dumalagan reported to the police station at around 1:50 p.m., that he discovered the body of Quitoy inside their living room.

Robbers stage
daytime hold-up

At least three unidentified men held up the Botica Real in Daro, Dumaguete City, at around 9 a.m. yesterday and took about P100,000 in cash.

Police reports said the suspects, armed with short firearms of undetermined calibers, announced the hold-up and fled with the cash on board a motorcycle, witnesses said. Hot pursuit operations by the city police failed to catch up with the suspects.

The Botica Real is located across the street from the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital and is usually teeming with people.

APEC-IT seminar set in FU

The Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Philippine Inc. will conduct a two-day training for website training and marketing at the Foundation University James Herring Audio-Visual Room January 19 and 20, in Dumaguete City.

The APEC-IT training program was an offshoot of the 4th APEC Human Resources Development Ministerial Meeting held in Japan in September 2001, that recognized, among others, the importance of cooperation and information sharing between and among economies in bridging the digital divide and foster human resources development in developing countries within the region.
