Killing triggers relief of cop chief

BY ADRIAN NEMES III

Chief Insp. Danilo Francisco, station commander of Bacolod City police station 8, was relieved effective yesterday after the fatal shooting of a lending firm manager Friday night in Brgy. Pahanocoy.

City Police Director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz announced the relief of Francisco at a command conference yesterday.

Francisco swapped positions with Senior Insp. Jerick Filosofo, head of administration, after a formal turnover of command at the BCPO headquarters yesterday.

Francisco could not be reached for comment on his relief last night.

Aside from Francisco, De la Paz warned that “more heads will roll” if the chiefs of police will not adapt pro-active measures in combating heinous crimes in their areas of responsibility.

The killing of Josie Genovea, branch manager of the La Carlota based- ZFA Lending Corp Sunday is only one of the heinous crimes in the area of Police Station 8 that remains unsolved, de la Paz said.

In December last year, businessman Joseph Villalobos was gunned down by a lone gunman while in his car at the parking lot of Gaisano City mall. Taxi driver Marvin Mahilum was also found lifeless and bathed in blood inside his taxi in Purok Roxas in Brgy. Tangub in October, police records showed.

Meanwhile, de la Paz said that they already have witnesses who could help them identify the suspects in the killing of Genovea.

He said they will ask the help of the National Bureau of Investigation for the facial sketch of the suspect.

De la Paz said robbery is the motive for the killing of Genovea because the suspects took her bag that contained her 9 ATM cards believed owned by clients of the lending firm, a small amount of cash, and her personal belongings.

It is also possible that Genovea knew the suspects and that could be the reason why she was killed.*APN
