Five young aquathlon athletes from Silay City topped their respective divisions in the 1st San Francisco Lake Resort Triathlon and Kids Aquathlon held January 14-15 in Brgy. Alangilan, Bacolod City, a press release from Silay City said.

The top placers were Juliana Rein Villavert, 7 years old; Kevin Judd Ballon, 8; John Richard Sayon, 10; Timothy John Sellado, 12; and Red Canson, 11.

Finishing in second place for the Silay team were Margarritt Rose Delotavo, 8 years old; Christopher James Bentulan, 9; and Dimple Jardonero, 12. Their teammates Daven James Blanco and Jon Oliver Villavert, also finished the race in the 9 and 11 years old category, the press release also said.

The team from Silay joined the Kids Aquathlon event that includes a two-stage race of swimming and running.

Coach Manuel Almirante said the team trained for the event and they were thankful of the support given by the city government under the leadership of Mayor Jose Montelibano, the press release said.

In topping their respective division, the Silaynons beat their contenders from Binalbagan, Bacolod City, and Iloilo, the press release added.*
