The Bureau of Internal Revenue, Revenue Region 12 in Bacolod City, increased it revenue collection goal for 2012 by 17 percent over last year’s, BIR regional director Perfecto Aranas said yesterday.

Aranas said their target for 2012 is P6,147,388,000 billion as the target for the entire BIR has also been raised to P1.066 trillion, which is 13.4 percent higher than last year’s goal of P940 billion.

Every year, the BIR collection target is increased because the Department of Finance also increases the budget of the entire bureau, he said, adding that he is confident that they will meet their monthly goals and year-end target collection.

“We will do our jobs to implement tax laws so that all taxpayers will pay correct taxes. We will be conducting tax campaign, tax mapping operations, Oplan Kandado, and the Run After Tax Evaders program, because these methods have greatly helped in the collection of our taxes,” Aranas said.

He said that under the rate program, those taxpayers who will be discovered understating their sales by more than 30 percent will be covered by it and appropriate criminal case will be filed against them.

Aranas added that they have been developing cases for RATE but they have to make sure they are proven beyond reasonable doubt and that the special investigation division of BIR is looking closely at taxpayers who might be subject for RATE cases.

Aranas also appealed to all taxpayers to comply with BIR rules and regulations by paying their taxes correctly and promptly and that there will audit taxpayers to determine their correct liabilities.*LTG
