A former policeman wanted for allegedly raping his 10-year-old neighbor in Bacolod City three years ago was arrested in Brgy. Vito, Sagay City, Negros Occidental at about 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Bacolod City Police Special Operations Task Group head, Supt. Santiago Rapiz identified the one arrested as patrolman Armando Collado, 58, of Ciocon Road in Brgy. 26, Bacolod City.
He said Collado was arrested by the Sagay City police while attending the burial of his wife in Brgy. Vito.
He also said Collado was arrested on the strength of an arrest warrant for two counts of statutory rape, issued in 2009 by Regional Trial Court Judge Anita Chua, who denied him bail.
Rapiz added that Collado was last assigned at the Escalante City police before he was dismissed from the service in 2004 for still unknown reasons.
Collado refused to comment on his arrest when asked by the DAILY STAR yesterday. He will be brought to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Brgy. Taculing, Bacolod today.
A man facing charges on three counts of sexual abuse was also arrested in Brgy. Robles in La Castellana town, Negros Occidental at about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Police records identified the suspect as Menardo Sarco, 43, of Brgy. Laglagasan, La Castellana.
Reports to the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office yesterday showed that Sarco was arrested on the strength of an arrest warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Francisco Rodriguez, who set his bail at P200,000.*APN
