Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Renante Decena yesterday said the 11 satellite animal production and breeding centers from 11 local government units in Negros Occidental are fully operational with 1,400 existing farm animals.

The 11 LGUs are San Carlos City, Kabankalan Cityu Pontevedra, Moises Padilla, La Castellana, La Carlota City, Cadiz City, Calatrava, Escalante City, San Enrique, and Sipalay City.

Decena said that with the arrival of sheep from Australia, more LGUs will establish satellite breeding centers that will increase the number of farm animals dispersed and produced.

MOA signing set for farming plan

Magsasaka Sientista Ramon Peñalosa will sign a marketing agreement and memorandum of agreement with the 30 household beneficiaries for his farm-based probiotic swine raising Wednesday at his farm in Victorias City where the training was recently conducted.

Edna Garde, manager of the Farmers Information and Technology Services Center of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist yesterday said the project was in cooperation with the TechnoGabay team in Negros Occidental and Carlos Hilado Memorial State College.

She said it teaches household beneficiaries to raise swine without using growth enhancers and toxin builders, as well as to promote organic farming with low production cost.

Calls for hike in state
workers’ PERA intensify

The move to increase to P4,000 the P2,000 monthly Personnel Economic Relief Allowance granted to government employees is gaining ground in the House of Representatives, a press release from Congress said.

Rep. Antonio Tinio (Party-list, ACT Teachers) filed House Bill 5662 seeking the increase to supplement the basic compensation of state workers due to the rising cost of living.

Tinio said an increase in the PERA will offer government personnel more substantial relief from the erosion of the purchasing power of public sector salaries and wages.
