The P 20-million Rural Health Unit building in Valencia is believed to be the most modern and sophisticated facility among local government units in Negros Oriental and Valencia Mayor Ricky Gonzalez thanked Energy Development Corp. through its chairman emeritus, Oscar Lopez, for making his dream project a reality.
He said the building is proof of an effective public-private partnership in the implementation of projects and programs.
The project began in May 2011 and was completed in December 11, 2011 on a 652-square meter land area.
Gonzalez promised to fully utilize it in providing health services to the residents of Valencia. He said the old RHU building had to be rehabilitated, because it was already dilapidated and had a limited space.
The building can now accommodate recovering patients, a lying-in clinic, and provide basic health services to the community.
Lopez said he also appreciates the vision of Gonzalez to give the people of Valencia prime health services, because it is aligned with his health and wellness advocacy.
He added that they will continue the effort of training barangay health workers and support the wellness program of the Department of Health for the Community.
Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital chief, Dr. Felix Sy, said the new Rural Health building can also help decongest patients at NOPH and save time and financial resources because they will no longer have to travel to Dumaguete City to seek medical consultations.*PNA
