Four killed in city
BY ADRIAN NEMES III

Four were killed in stabbing and vehicular accidents in Barangays Bata, Mansilingan, Vista Alegre and Singcang Airport, Bacolod City Saturday.

Rodel Tingson, 27, of Silay City, Negros Occidental was crossing the street near the flyover area in Brgy. Bata at about 4:40 p.m. when he was sideswiped by a Nissan Adventure vehicle, that  was heading south of Lacson Street.

The driver, Gibson Gallo, 54, of Manapla town, Negros Occidental, is now in the custody of Police Station 3,  while the vehicle is now impounded at the same police station, traffic investigator Police Officer 3 Joey Mira said.

This is the first accident with a fatality at the flyover area since its inauguration last year, police records showed.

The traffic management unit is reminding pedestrians to avoid crossing the street near the flyover area as it is dangerous.

Meanwhile, Rodjenie Palonpon, 34, of Purok Cabugwason in Brgy. Vista Alegre was fatally stabbed at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday by his neighbor,  Ernie Barles, “alias Apong”, 42 for still unknown reason.

Palonpon was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Ernie Odanggo, 30, of Paglaum Village in Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod,  also died at the same hospital after his neighbors Carlito, 32 and his brother Roland Alegre, 20, allegedly ganged up on and stabbed him at about 11 a.m.

In a radio interview,  the elder Alegre said he got mad at Odanggo, who,  he claimed,  threw empty bottles at their house.

The Alegres are now detained at Police Station 7 while charges are being readied against them.

Julius Ginete, 33, of Greenplains Subdivision in Brgy. Tangub, Bacolod was having drinks with his friends in front of a store in Purok Mars in Brgy. Singcang Airport at about 4:20 p.m. Saturday, when he was fatally stabbed with a pair of scissors by Carde Bales, 33, of NHA Village in Brgy. Pahanocoy,  without provocation.

Ginete was rushed to the Bacolod Adventist Medical Hospital but he succumbed to four stab wounds.  Barles, a barbershop owner, fled after the incident but surrendered to Police Station 8 at about 10 a.m. yesterday.

Police Officer 1 Robert Gaurana is still trying to determine  the motive for  the stabbing.*APN
