Serge ready to help
guv on DOE concern

BY CARLA GOMEZ

Senator Sergio Osmeña III yesterday said he will raise the concern of Negros Occidental on the river service contacts hindering   investments in hydroelectric  power plants in Negros Occidental with Energy Secretary Jose Rene Alemndras.

However, Osmeña, chairman of the Senate Committee on Energy, who was informed by the DAILY STAR of the concern of Negrenses, said  he wants to  speak to Governor Alfredo Marañon first to get his facts right before  referring the matter to Almendras.

Frank Carbon, president of the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Ben Ortega, president of the Bacolod Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, on Sunday called on the DOE to  act on the service contracts on the rivers of Negros Occidental that present a hindrance to the establishment of hydro power plants in the province.

Corona has to go
BY LISA GAPAC

“We are convinced that the eight articles of impeachment against Chief Justice Renato Corona are strong, particularly articles 4 and 7, and the evidences are forceful.”

They are enough to remove Corona from office, AnakPawis Rep. Rafael Mariano said, at a press conference yesterday at the National Federation of Sugar Workers office in Bacolod City, held in commemoration of the 25th year of the Mendiola Massacre.

Article 4 of the impeachment refer to the “betrayal of public trust and culpable violation of the Constitution when he used a status quo order ante that had suspended the hearings of the House justice committee on the impeachment case against previous Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez.”moremoremore
