Man falls for loose guns
BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

Philippine National Police operatives arrested recently in Siaton, Negros Oriental, a man with an “unlicensed” firearm and several rounds of ammunitions. Intelligence operations team members of the PNP Provincial Safety Company and the Siaton police arrested Nicarter Balbuena, Sr., of Barangay Napacao in Siaton, when he failed to present documents allowing him to possess a firearm and ammunitions.

The raid was conducted by virtue of a search warrant dated January 20, 2012issued by acting provincial Executive Judge Gerardo Paguio.

Relatives of Balbuena allegedly put up resistance and attempted to prevent the search from taking place but the police proceeded with the search that yielded a .45 caliber pistol, empty magazines and several rounds of live ammunition.

Balbuena is now detained at the lock-up facility and of the Siaton police station as charges for violation of P.D. 1866 or illegal possession of a firearm and ammunitions will be filed against him.*JFP
