SJI cagers tame St. Clare in
come-from-behind win

Down by 10 points with eight minutes left in the game, St. John’s Institute cagers turned on their defense and shifted into high gear to turn back St. Clare College of Caloocan, 83-71, to register their third straight victory in the Samahang Basketball ng Pilipinas Under 16 National Juniors Championship at the University of Baguio Gym, Baguio City yesterday.

Despite getting himself in foul trouble in the third quarter, Kib Montalbo bailed out the young Falcons from trouble by scoring 14 points in the final quarter to lead SJI to victory.

Jai Arroyo and Carlo Sian provided the much needed back up for Montalbo, with Arroyo delivering six points and Sian with four points in the endgame. Leland Dusaban and Thirdy Montinola combined for five points for a 29 fourth quarters output.

Powerade remains confident
despite 0-2 setback in Finals

Despite falling behind 0-2 in the finals against Talk N Text, the Powerade Tigers remain confident that they will be able to turn things around in today’s Game 3 in the best-of-seven final showdown of the PBA Philippine Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

After taking a 102-96 decision, Monday, the Texters padded their series lead to a commanding 2-0.

But even TnT coach Chot Reyes maintains that's still a long way off from them becoming the first team in 27 years to repeat as champion of the tourney formerly known as the All-Filipino.
