DOLE WV gets
new reg’l head

The new regional director of the Department of Labor and Employment in Western Visayas will report for duty next month after a reshuffle order from DOLE Manila.

The new head is Ponciano Ligutom, who was previously assigned in DOLE IX and his Assistant Regional Director is Dax Villaruel, Crispin Dannug, DOLE VI-OIC regional director, said yesterday.

Dannug said 14 regional directors were reshuffled, including 10 assistant regional directors.

He will be assigned in Region X as ARD, with Johnson Cañete as the regional head, Dannug also said.

He said the reshuffling is done to strengthen the delivery of services in the region and to maintain transparency in all DOLE offices.

The accomplishments of Dannug as OIC after, then director Manuel Roldan was assigned by Sec. Rosalinda Baldoz to Hong Kong as labor attaché, include the rescue of the 60 sugarcane workers from Victorias City who were illegally recruited to work in a farm in Batangas.

During Dannug’s term, he also intensified the campaign on the voluntary compliance of the labor standards particularly in big establishments and implementation of the construction safety and health program among construction companies and builders that ensures a zero incident or accident rate at any work site.*
