‘Gun-toting’ teener flees

A gun-toting teenager evaded arrest when barangay tanodsresponded to a commotionthe suspect allegedly caused during a public dance at Barangay Novallas in Tanjay City, Negros Oriental.

A police report identified the teenager as Freddie Quitay, 19, single, ofNovallas.

Initial police reports said Quitay, suspected to be under the influence of alcoholic liquor, allegedlyaimed his gun at people in a public dance, for no apparent reason.

Manuel Jayme, Gregorio Jayme Ramirez and Arsenio Tulabing responded to the disturbance and confiscated a .38 caliber Smith & Wesson revolver from Quitay who managed to flee.

The gun was turned over to the Tanjay City police.

Meanwhile, police in Bais City, Negros Oriental, turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development a minor who was apprehended for alleged involvement in the illegal numbers game, “swertres”.

Police reports said “Enrique” (not his real name), 16, and a resident of Sitio San Jose in Barangay Poblacion 2, Bais City, was foundwith tally sheets, a betting stub with number combinations written down, and cash money believed to be proceeds from “swertres” allegedly in his possession.“Enrique” was nabbed during a checkpoint in Bais City.

The teenager allegedly works for a “swertres” financier in Dumaguete City, the capital of Negros Oriental, although policedid not identify thefinancier.*JFP
