The Bishop’s birthday

BUDAAI

The last day of the Chinese New Year held at the Bacolod Government Center was attended by thousands of well-wishers, who wanted to watch the presentations and program coordinated by the Kapamilya staff, headed by Leilani Salem-Alba.S

Leonito Lopue wondered where all these people had come from. Because of the very supportive crowd, all the presentors gave all their best in the dance and song numbers. The program lasted up to the wee hours of the morning.

My congratulations to Mayor Bing Leonardia, the Sangguniang Panglungsod of Bacolod, and the Filipino-Chinese Community for the very successful Chinese New Year celebration!

Bacolod Bishop Vicente Navarra celebrated, for the first time his birthday, on January 22 as he turned 73. A Eucharistic celebration was held at 10 a.m. at San Sebastian Cathedral, and it also coincided with the celebration of the Chinese New Year.

In the evening a dinner with the clergy, relatives and friends, and some public officials, was held at the St. John Marie Vianney Hall, with almost 200 guests, who wished our good Bishop not only happiness and more years of service, but also good health.

The Bishop thanked everyone present.

Remember: Life is surrounded by people who judge us in and out, and who will praise you but will step at you thrice. They hurt you over and over. The very most important thing is: “Live life that pleases God, not them.”*
