PESO to host job fairs

The Public Employment Service Office in Bacolod City will host a series of jobs fair for five recruitment agencies starting February 1 to 10 at the 2nd floor of the old City Hall building, Moises de la Cruz, PESO manager and executive assistant to Mayor Evelio Leonardia said yesterday.

On Feb.1 and 2, Blazing Star InternationalManpower Services will hold its employers’ interview for McDonalds-Kuwait where they need customer relations officers and service crew, de la Cruz said.

The MSL Stars Human Resources Corp. needs skilled workers and nurses for four companies in Qatar while General Motors need automechanics, which are both scheduled to conduct their interviews on Feb.7.

De la Cruz said that qualified applicants for auto-mechanics will be trained in Manila with P15,000 allowance. Once they pass the training, they will be deployed abroad through General Motors, he added.

The Aqua Gem International Manpower Corp. also needs 300 domestic helpers for Hongkong and they are scheduled to screen applicants on Feb. 8.

All applicants must prepare their resume, transcript of records, training and work certificates, and passport.

They also have to fill out a form for the skills registry system so that their profile will be uploaded in the server so that employers will have easier access on their profiles, he also said.

During an interview, applicants must wear casual attire, and wearing of shorts and slippers is not allowed, he added.

Meanwhile, PESO will launch the career guidance coaching next month for 11 high schools in Bacolod City and one provincial high school.

De la Cruz said the coaching will help high school students decide when they enroll in college on the right course to take that will be in demand by the time they graduate.

He said the coaching will also include parents so they will be guided as well not to dictate to their children what courses to take, he added. *LTG
