The Bacolod City Police goes high tech with the launching of the E-Blotter system at the city police headquarters yesterday, that will replace the manual recording of crime incidents.
Senior Supt. Manuel Felix, Deputy Police Regional Director for Operations, said the new system will be very advantageous, as the complainants can check the progress of their case in police stations with the e-blotter system anywhere in the country.
Felix said the process is that desk officers will encode the complaints into the system and give the complainants a receipt which they can use to follow up the progress of the case.
He said the data stored in the system are safe because only the authorized crime registrars are allowed to access it.
Felix also said that if the media wants to access the blotters, they should ask forpermission from the station commanders, or from the City Police Director, Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz, before they can be allowed to view the blotter reports.
Meanwhile, Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia said the Bacolod City government donated 14 desktop computers valued at P400,000 for the launching of the e-blotter system.
Leoanardia said that the e-blotter system will boost police operations in Bacolod and help resolve crimes quickly.
De la Paz said the main goal of the project is to maintain a daily update on happenings on the ground, particularly in every police station, which is vital in mapping out strategies for quick response and crime prevention.
He added that e-blotter is designed as a stand-alone system that will be installed in all police stations as a means of reporting and monitoring all crime incidents that transpired within their areas as well as the results and records of investigation.*APN back
