Dinagsa fest on in Cadiz

Cadiz City is celebrating its 38th Dinagsa Festival in honor of its patron Sto. Nino de Cadiz from January 22 to 29, with various activities being staged.

A shootfest and street party will be held at Cadiz City Hall today, and a Holy Mass at Philippine Normal University Quadrangle with seven participating tribes, a street parade and awarding at City Hall on Sunday, a Cadiz City Hall press release said yesterday.

The seven participating tribes that will compete on this year’s celebration are Majeca Tribe, Tribu Bubocad, Tribu Yabyab Doongol, Hitalon Tribe, Tres Maria’s Tribe, Manara/Tibanda Tribe and Bulawanon Tribe with a dance participation of Tribu Bading, it said.

Cadiz Mayor Patrick Escalante is inviting the public to come and enjoy the Dinagsa fever, the press release said.

Last night the candidates who joined the Search of Dinagsa Queen 2012 were Germe Rose Salazar of Majeca tribe, Jesslou Cornito of Tribu Bubocad, Joana Diane Magbanua of Tribu Yabyab Doongol, Kimberly Dingcong of Hitalon Tribe, Janeth Drowa of Tres Marias Tribe, and Rachelle Ann Sanchez of Manara/Tibanda Tribe, the press release added.*
