Former UNDOC leaders
head new transport group

The Sentrong Samahan ng Tsuper at Operators-Negros or SSTONE, a new transport group in Bacolod City composed of 24-association members that aims to protect the rights of the drivers, has been organized by former secretary general and founding member of the United Negros Drivers and Operators Center, Jesse Ortega.

Ortega, SSTONE secretary general, said the group was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on June 21 and had its first general assembly on June 6.

He said SSTONE was organized to help drivers with their demands and to ensure their protection, particularly on issues related to oil prices.

“The new transport group was realized in response to the demands of the former members of UNDOC who left the group,” Ortega said.

The SSTONE officers are Nilo Frias - chairman, Valenite Jamilo - vice chairman, Girlie Ardonia - deputy secretary general, Albert Villanueva - treasurer, and Giovanni Basal - auditor.

The 24 local association members of SSTONE include those plying the Banago, Shopping-La Salle, Punta Taytay, Mandalagan, San Dionisio, Bata, Alijis, Paglaum, Magsunggay, Taculing, Doña Juliana, and Fortune Towne routes, Ortega added. *LTG
