Toyota guns for
5th win tonight

Toyota-Bacolod hopes to claim its fifth straight win tonight and keep its record unblemished as the squad clashes against Boston Finance in the first game of the 1st PROBAC/LNA7 Invitational Basketball Tournament at the West Negros University gym.

Fresh from a 84-76 win against Akasya Grill Friday night, Toyota will once again rely on their shooters, among them Jojo Patias and Bernard Suante, who led Toyota scorers against Akasya.

Downed by nine points at the half, 39-30, Suante nailed 17 points in the third as Toyota staged a 29-13 quarter run, to put his team on top at the end of the period, 59-52. Vince Lacson also played a good inside game with six points.

media bowling tourney

The Visayan DAILY STAR bowling team beat the NPC Officers, 512-450, in the final round to capture its third championship in the Negros Press Club/Kapisanan ng mga Brodkasters sa Pilipinas Fellowship Bowling Tournament at the Super Lanes of the Goldenfield Commercial Complex in Bacolod City, over the weekend.

DAILY STAR bowlers Harold Magturo, Hernand Garciniego and reporter Chrysee Samillano, also brought home individual honors in the tournament sponsored by Coca Cola Bottlers Inc. Philippines.

Magturo posted the hightest single game in the men’s division with 126 points, while Samillano, who played for the Team NPC Officers duplicated the feat in the women’s bracket with 100 pinfalls.

La Salle vs. Ateneo
golfest set July 6-7

The One La Salle Cebu Alumni Association, together with the Ateneo Alumni Association Cebu Chapter, is set to host the 11th La Salle-Ateneo Golfest at the Negros Occidental Golf and Country Club on July 6 and 7, a press release from the USLS said.

This year’s tournament is themed, “Green or Blue… It’s our time to shine together”.

This tournament is the only surviving game between the alumni of the two archrival schools.
