New leaders

LA VIDA NEGRENSE

A joint turnover of command of the national leaders and district directors of the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary was held in Bacolod City recently, with PCG commandant Edmund Tan, and national director Danilo Cabalde in attendance.

The event at the Visayan Maritime Academy College was spearheaded by Capt. Elizabeth Salabas, president and director of the Western Visayas District Auxiliary, which assists the Philippine Coast Guard in maritime search and rescue operations, and in the promotion of maritime safety and environmental protection.

It was a back-to-back affair as the first Visayan summit was also held at the same venue the next day. The get-together of all squadrons was aimed at strengthening mutual cooperation and camaraderie.

Simulated disaster was presented that day to show the best practices and readiness of the squadrons for any calamity.*
