A teenager died on the spot after he jumped from the passenger jeepney he rode on and it accidentally ran over him in Brgy. Banago, Bacolod City, at about 2:55 a.m. Saturday.
Bacolod City Police Traffic Management Unit head, Chief Insp. Luisito Acebuche, yesterday identified the fatality as Loui Templado, 18, of Brgy. 3, Bacolod.
Jeepney driver Jemar Maninog, 19, of Purok Mabi-abihon in Brgy. Banago, is in the custody of Police Station 3, while the family of Templado has yet to decide whether to file charges against him or not, the police said.
Investigation conducted by Police Officer 3 Wilson Go showed that Templado suddenly jumped from the jeepney of Maninog at San Juan Street in Purok Ilang-ilang.
Maninog, who was surprised by Templado’s action, backed up the jeepney and accidentally hit the victim, who was lying on the ground, Go said.
Witnesses claimed Templado appeared to be avoiding someone, and he must have seen his foes from afar, that prompted him to jump.
Templado’s mother said he has been an out-of-school youth for some time now and was joining singing and dancing contests to help in their family’s financial needs, Go added.
Templado’s remains were brought to Alisbo Memorial Chapels at Lacson Street in Bacolod City.*APN back
