The University of St. La Salle opens today its 60th Foundation Week.

The celebration also kicks off the year-round Diamond Jubilee celebration of the university, which is themed, “Transforming Lives. Building Communities. Shaping Futures”.

Br. Raymundo Suplido, USLS president and chancellor, will lead the university community in the opening-day reunion program, which will pay tribute to Lasallian retirees at 3 p.m. today.

Activities today kick off with the Fun, Bike and Walk for the Jubilee at 5:30 a.m. and will end with a Jubilee Fun Night, which will start at 5:30 p.m.

Rhoderick Samonte, director for the USLS Center for External Affairs, said the week-long celebration will include alumni, awards, sports and special events.

Lined up for tomorrow are the 3rd BLT (Busog Lusog Talino) Negros Summit at 8 a.m., a dog show and an evening program at the Parking Lot.

Performing administrators, faculty and staff will be honored in the THOMAS and Merit Awards program at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, when another fun night and a welcome reception for golden jubilarians as well as the opening of the Golden Jubilee exhibit will be held later in the day.

Samonte said the Foundation Day celebration on Thursday will start with a 9 a.m. jubilee mass.

The mass will  be followed by the  recognition rites for golden jubilarians and the launch of three Jubilee Flagship Projects – the restoration of Cabacauan Creek, Social Environment Challenge and “60M@60”, a fund raiser that targets P60 million for scholarships, faculty and staff development, infrastructure development, sports and culture development, outreach and social development, and health and medical aid.

An Agape lunch and the Animo Diamante!, the diamond jubilee show featuring Lasallian talents, are also calendared as part of the Foundation Day activities.

Friday morning activities will feature the launch of the USLS-Energy Development Corporation “Binhi Tree for the Future and Living Tree Museum Project” on campus, a beach volleyball friendship tournament, the Free Cycle project, the groundbreaking and laying of the time capsule rites and the launch of a landmark competition.

The USLS Alumni Association will hold its induction and reception at noon to be followed by the varsity athletes’ fellowship, the signing of the memorandum of agreement for the University Games 2012, a basketball match between USLS and UNO-Recoletos and the Ateneo-La Salle alumni golf classic, which will end on Saturday.
