Higher power bills for
CENECO members

Consumers of Central Negros Electric Cooperative are faced with higher powers rates in their August bill, CENECO general manager Sulpicio Lagarde Jr. said yesterday.

He said the increase will reflect the amount CENECO has to pay for power it purchased from the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market when Kepco Salcon Power Corp. in Cebu broke down.

When the Kepco plant broke down for three days CENECO was forced to purchase 65 megawatts from WESM at P16 per kilowatt hour, Lagarde said.

CENECO pays pays P6 plus per kph for power from Kepco, he said.

Power rates of CENECO consumers could go up by 42 centavos in their August bills because of this, Lagarde said.*CPG
