The weeklong Bayanihan caravan of the 11th Infantry Battalion in the hinterlands of central Negros, in tandem with Domino Lux International-Philippines and Rep. Jocelyn Limkaichong (Neg. Or., 1st District), have benefitted 3,368 individuals, including students, military records show.
Capt. Ariel Quirog, 11th IB Civil Military Operations officer, said the caravan started June 25 with the distribution of 300 family packs, composed of assorted clothing, to earthquake-affected residents of Brgy. Planas in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental.
A similar activity was also held by the 11th IB Charlie Company, headed by 1Lt. Jimrhic Obias, that linked up with the Domino Lux International Fraternity and Sorority, in Brgy. Carabalan, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental, where 300 families availed of family packs.
Quirog said 786 pupils in three elementary schools in the barangay also benefitted from the feeding program, and received assorted school supplies and relief goods.
Similar medical outreach activities were also initiated by the 11th IB and Domino Lux International in Brgys. Carol-an, Nabhang and Mabato, both in Ayungon, Negros Oriental, that helped 2,3S78 residents.
Quirog said the Domino Lux, represented by Marlon Ramirez during the Bayanihan caravan, will initiate similar community outreach programs, in partnership with the 11th IB, in the next months.*GPB
