Wilkinson Construction was determined by the Bids and Awards Committee to have the lowest offer during the opening of bids yesterday at the Bacolod Government Center for the construction of a 3-storey public elementary school at the city’s Reclamation Area.
Bacolod City will put up the Education and Training Center School on its 2-hectare property at the reclaimed area under a 50/50 sharing scheme with the Department of Education.
BAC chairman Goldwyn Nifras said yesterday that other bidders were Cris D. P. Construction from Iloilo, Unitek Construction from Zamboanga, and Dynamic Builders from Bacolod.
He said only the financial bid of Wilkinson Construction was opened after it passed the eligibility check, while the rest failed for one reason or another.
Nifras said Wilkinson Construction offered a bid price that was lower by about P100,000 from the Approved Budget for the Contract of around P24 million.
He said he has directed the Technical Working Group to conduct the post-qualification as soon as they can.
If Wilkinson Construction passes the post-qualification stage, the BAC will recommend to the City Mayor that the project be awarded to the company, Nifras said.
The new ETCS intends to increase the capacity of the school to accept more students.
Education Secretary Armin Luistro and Mayor Evelio Leonardia signed a memorandum of agreement at the DepEd main office on February 9, for a 50/50 partnership on the project.*CGS back
