BOUND FOR ARMM
Marines to secure
Comelec Region 6

The Marines and the Philippine National Police will secure the 186 Commission on Elections personnel from Western Visayas, 53 of whom are from Negros Occidental, during the registration of voters in Sulu from July 9 to 18, COMELEC Provincial Supervisor Jessie Suarez said yesterday.

The Region 6 COMELEC personnel left for Sulu Tuesday and yesterday, and are expected to return to WV on July 20 or 21, Suarez said.

The registration of voters in Western Visayas will resume on August 1, he added.

The WV team, along with COMELEC personnel from other parts of the country, was being sent to the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao for the registration of voters there, with the old lists having been purged.

Thirty-one computers from COMELEC offices in Negros Occidental have been brought to Sulu for the registration, he said.

The Negros Occidental COMELEC personnel will register voters in Jolo, Indanan and Parang, while the rest of the WV COMELEC personnel will be in Maimbung, Panglima Estino, Omar, Pata, Tapul, Lugus and Siasi in Sulu, Suarez said.*CPG
