USLS honors Class ’62

Seventy-one “Men of La Salle” who graduated from grade school, high school, and college in 1962 were honored yesterday at the University of Saint La Salle-Bacolod during its 60th Foundation Day celebration.

Br. Raymundo Suplido, USLS president and chancellor, said to be a jubilarian is not just to celebrate the founding day of the university but also to live the values La Salle stands for.

“We celebrate something very significant but we also continue to do something very important, and we are happy to launch the Jubilee celebration because we have here the Golden Jubilarians and their spouses,” Suplido said.

The college graduates batch 1962 had 21 alumnae and eight of them were present to receive their USLS medals and pins. They were Warlito Gustilo, Oscar Hormillosa Jr., Manolo Imutan, Eduardo Miguel Manganti, Edmundo Jose Misa, James Pfleider, Pacifico Tanate, Jr., and Anselmo Villanueva, Jr.

Of the 42 who graduated from high school, 31 of them were present and received their awards. They were Francisco Ballesteros, Jesus Benares, Alejandro Beson, Enrique Chua, Jim Chua, Roseller Ciocon, Elfren Cruz, Victor Cusi, Alfonso Go Dacles, Jr., Raul Gumban, Ramiro Garcia, Jr., Tomas Garrucho, Jr., Fernando Gaston.

Jaime Golez, Michael Grey, Ramon Guanzon, Edgardo Jison, George Jocson, Roger Jocson, Eduardo Ledesma, Jr., Esteban Ledesma, Yñaki de Luzuriaga, Nestor Manganti, Antonio Pastelero, Cesar Paltera, Jr., Rufino Suplido, Jr., Noel Tolentino, Alfonso Torre, Jr., Hector Torre, Juan Torres, and Roberto Yusay.

Representing the grade school graduates of 1962 were Jose Mari Araneta, Edgardo Atienza, Pedro Aurelio, Ernie Bacaling, Romeo Benares, Jose Ma. Benedicto, Jose Beson Jr., Clarence Chua, Luis Archie Corteza, Jr., Edwin Espeleta, Ricardo Gallaga Jr., Carlo Gamboa, Sr., Roy Golez, Claudio Hojilla, Catalino Javellana III.

Antonio Lagtapon, Benjamin Lopue, Jr., Jose Ma. Manganti, Robert Mascuñana, Antonio Menchaca, Antonio Montelibano, Jose Montelibano, Juanito Parreño, Jr., Benjamin Pascual, Victor Regalado Jr., Roger Reyes, Luis Roces, Eduardo Suatengco Jr., Francis Suatengco, Edwin Velez, Teodoro Villanueva, and Antonio Villarosa.

Meanwhile, USLS also launched its flagship projects that include tree planting and saving a creek campaign and fund raising for special projects like endowment for scholarships, faculty development, research, special needs and emergencies for faculty, staff, and students.

Suplido said they want to reach out to different groups outside the university to promote social development and involve the community in their activities. *LTG
