‘LP Bacolod’s 2013
plans not final yet’

BY CARLA GOMEZ

Liberal Party members in Bacolod City met yesterday with Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3rd District) to discuss their proposals for the 2013 election and their possible candidates.

Benitez, who heads the LP in Negros Occidental, said the proposed line up for Bacolod will have to be sent to LP officials in Manila for review and approval.

“Consultations are still being conducted, nothing is final,” Benitez said.

Frank Carbon, LP Bacolod head, said their meeting with Benitez was consultative in nature.

They have not decided if they will field a full slate, from congressman to councilors in Bacolod, he said.

Former Bacolod Vice Mayor Ramiro Garcia, whose name they floated as a possible mayoral candidate, has informed them that he is not interested in running for the post, Carbon said.

Councilor Archie Baribar is still considering whether or not to run for vice mayor, while former councilor Lyndon Caña, who is being urged to run for congressman, has submitted his résumé for consideration, Carbon added.

Caña, who supported the presidential bid of Bro. Eddie Villanueva in the last election, said yesterday he is still “studying, considering and praying about it,” when asked if he will run for congressman.

An LP convention in Negros Occidental could be held in August wherein lineups could be finalized, Carbon said.*CPG
