Aklan withdraws bid to
host regional meet

The Aklan provincial government has withdrawn its bid to host the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet next year.

Antonino Tolentino of the Department of Education (Aklan) said the province cited lack of funds as the  reason behind the withdrawal.

Earlier, the DepEd has expressed willingness to give Aklan the right to host the WVRAA in accepting the province’s bid.

"Because of this, the DepEd may give the right to the province of Antique to hosts next year's WVRAA," said Tolentino.

Malinao town mayor Wilbert Ariel Igoy said that the boxing tournament is supposed to be held in his town if Aklan will host the WVRAA.

"Now that the hosting of WVRAA is cancelled we are now concentrating our efforts to send delegates to Antique next year," said Igoy.
